About Me

About Me

Clinical Psychologist and EMDR Consultant based in Liverpool

Hello, I’m Andrew

I’m Dr Andrew Morgan, a Clinical Psychologist. I’ve been working in the NHS for over fifteen years and, during that time, I’ve been fortunate to work with clients from a wide range of backgrounds and walks of life.

My Values

Psychological distress can affect anyone who finds themselves in difficult circumstances.

Even when we feel highly distressed or overwhelmed, this does not mean that it is our fault or that there is something wrong with us. It also does not mean that we cannot do something about it. I believe both that life can be extremely difficult and that people have what it takes to cope, even if they sometimes need some additional support.

I try to provide therapy that combines the personal knowledge and expertise of the client—their aims, experiences, strengths and values—with my knowledge and expertise in psychology. This creates an approach that is unique to the individual while remaining grounded in evidence and clinical experience.

Something about professionalism and high standards

My Experience

During my career, I have worked across a wide range of clinical settings, including secure services, hospitals and community teams. My work has involved children, adults and older adults, as well as people with learning disabilities.

In recent years, I have specialised in physical health, anxiety and trauma. People can experience anxiety or trauma for many different reasons, so this work remains varied, challenging and highly individual.

My Background

I grew up on the Wirral and have spent most of my life living in Liverpool. Before training in psychology, I studied Philosophy and Politics at the University of Warwick.

I later completed my Psychology degree at Liverpool Hope University and my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Lancaster University. Clinical psychology was a good fit for me because I wanted to understand both myself and other people better, and to use that knowledge to help others.
